Shepherd’s Bush, located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, is home to Shepherds Bush Green shopping area and one of Europe’s biggest malls, Westfield London Shopping Centre.

The 43-acre mall opened in October of 2008 and now houses more than 275 shops and 50 restaurants on five floors. It’s 96 escalators carry approximately 20 million shoppers each year.

Westfield London contains four popular department stores: Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Next, and House of Fraser. The mall also boasts a full supermarket, Waitrose, which offers fresh foods packaged by specialists, as well as a full collection of wines.

For a break from shopping, one can visit the Atrium within the mall’s center, where art events and educational seminars are held throughout the year. The complex also showcases a full movie theater, Vue Cinema, with 14 viewing screens.

Westfield London is open seven days a week, even on UK bank holidays. Over the Christmas season, the mall unveils a real indoor ice rink for its guests. Children and adults are all welcome to skate, though the purchase of advance tickets is advised.

If Westfield London wasn’t enough for the shopping enthusiast, Shepherds Bush Green has another smaller shopping centre on its south end, West 12. West 12 has a supermarket and Vue Cinema, much like Westfield London, and is open seven days a week.

Lastly, Shepherds Bush Green is also a thriving community of independent shops located along the streets outside its two centres. Tourists should be sure to visit these shops for a more local experience of Shepherds Bush Green.

Shepherds Bush is an area in West London that contains Westfield Shopping Centre and music venue Shepherds Bush Empire, which has featured performances by David Bowie and local band made good The Who.
